Numbers are 2 = log species (tallowood), PP = private property log, 68x 38 = length x mid length diameter (6.8 meters x 38 centimeters) Blue t is log grading (thinnings) 28 -125 is abbreviation for what is to be cut out of this piece -2.8 meter long 250mm x 125 mm railway sleeper (9'4" long 10"x5" {or 5"x 10" for our American friends})
The numbers become second nature in the work situation after a while, Kyles - same as the terminology used in your or any specialised field - to an outsider they may seem to be gibberish, but are like a second language to one who knows and works with them.
